Continuing our month of reccomended reading I would like to share some the biographies which our staff have selected:
Little Heathens: Hard Times and High Spirits on an Iowa Farm During the Great Depression by Mildred Armstrong Kalish
I found this biography to be an enchanting but unsentimental story of real life in the great depression. A really heart-warming read.
Life is so good by George Dawson and Richard Glaubman
The story of a grandson of a slave who learned to read at the age of 98 and his experiences over the last century.
Every Second Counts by Lance Armstrong
An inspiring read showing how serious illness can be a positive experience.
