Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting a group of students, aged 7 to 17, in our library for a writing workshop focusing on the Tall Tale genre of American storytelling. We began with a short lesson, then a reading of the classic Paul Bunyan. Afterwards, the students spent time planning and writing their own tall tales. Some were funny, some were magical, and some were surprisingly political in nature! Several tall tale authors have volunteered to share their work with our blog readers, so read on. Our apologies go out to Isabele, 7: she shared her wonderful story with us, and it unfortunately did not scan properly.
