On 2 March, UEA American Scholar Elizabeth Rawitsch and former UEA American Scholar Beth Southard will head to Manchester as invited speakers at a workshop organized by the North American History Teachers Network. They’ll be speaking about the development of the “Beyond Cowboys and Indians” lecture that the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library hosted in June 2011, which used historical photographs and movie clips to explore the shifting images and interpretations of the American West over the past century.
The workshop is entitled “Teaching with Images and Material Culture: Innovations and Best Practice to Improve Student Learning in the Teaching of North American History” and Beth and Elizabeth’s talk has been titled “Using Visual Images to Enhance Public History Engagement.” Needless to say, we are thrilled that the work that we do here at the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library is being thought of as “innovative,” and we look forward to sharing how the event goes with all of you!
