Nose Art and Pin Ups

In August, the BBC website featured an article on WWII American aircraft nose art, something near and dear to our hearts. The article highlights crew chief and nose artist Don Allen with examples of his exuberant work. Read the article here!

We get lots of questions and interest about nose art, which was a unique way for servicemen to create and promote their crew’s identity and to boost general morale. Vibrant, impressive (and sometimes slightly naughty), nose art has understandably maintained interest over the years, and even inspired a brand new film!
