The Library Turns 50: the Visitors Book

Just behind our desk sits the Visitors Book. In its own, quiet way it tells the story of the Memorial Library.

On the opening of our new home in 2001, many veterans of the 2nd Air Division were in attendance and filled the first page of our book.

The following year, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh signed the page during a very royal occasion: the opening of the Forum by Her Majesty the Queen on July 18, 2002.

The pages illustrate the thousands of people who have made use of the Library’s resources and facilities, and reflect the messages of gratitude and celebration left by visitors from all around the world. Here are a few entries:

“This is an amazing place and keeps the 2nd in our memories.”

“4th time here: always informative, historic, memorable.”

“Like coming home.” -445th BG veteran
